EL TECOLOTE

I had the honor of illustrating the cover image for El Tecolote’s Vol. 49 No. 08 issue in honor of Jessica Nicole Alva. Jessica was a 35-year-old indigenous mother of six from San Francisco’s Bay View who was allegedly killed by her boyfriend . Alva’s death is a grim reminder of the violence many native women face and how their deaths go largely ignored, underreported, and under investigated.

The image was inspired by members of the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Movement.
