El Tecolote – Cover Illustration (Vol. 49 No. 08)

I was commissioned to create the cover illustration for El Tecolote's Vol. 49 No. 08 issue, honoring the life of Jessica Nicole Alva—a 35-year-old Indigenous mother of six from San Francisco’s Bayview—who was tragically killed in an act of domestic violence. The piece was inspired by the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Movement and aimed to bring visibility to the systemic neglect, underreporting, and lack of investigation surrounding violence against Indigenous women.
