Gabriela Alemán is a Nicaraguan-Salvadoran multidisciplinary artist and organizer from San Francisco's Mission District. Working under her artist name, Smug Morenita, her boldly colored creations span protest art to reimagined cultural iconography, blending the aesthetics of comics, folklore, and pop art.
Her work draws inspiration from the vibrant colors of her community, aiming to bring visibility to the Central American diaspora while redefining what it means to be a multidisciplinary Latina artist in today's digital age.
